Morning, Lunch & Dinner
Owner-chef Loic is from Lyon, France, known as the capital of gastronomy.
Since arriving in Japan in 2006, he worked at popular French restaurants in Nagoya and Okinawa, and in 2019 opened Café Bellecour in Tokoname.
He wanted to create a place where anyone can casually enjoy French cuisine, so he designed the menu accordingly.
Perfect for celebrations or everyday conversations, whether with family, friends, or couples, Café Bellecour welcomes you for many occasions.
Terrace & Garden
The terrace and garden, accessible only from inside the café, feature wooden play equipment and a playground. Families with children can relax and enjoy French cuisine or a calm morning without worrying about timing.
Seasonal herbs, also used in our dishes, add beauty and fragrance to the surroundings.
About Us
I am Loic, the owner-chef from Lyon, France.
My earliest memories of cooking come from family weekends, gathered around a warm table. My father was a baker, and we often made sweets together as a family. I loved making desserts and dreamed of becoming a pastry chef.
However, pastry work was unstable, and at my parents’ advice I joined a company. After three years, feeling unfulfilled, I used my savings to travel to New Zealand and Australia. While working in agriculture, I met people from around the world and shared meals together. I continued traveling through Egypt, India, Malaysia, and Thailand, where I met my wife, Yumi.
Japan was not originally in my travel plans, but I came on a working holiday visa. At that time, many French chefs were in Nagoya, and I learned a great deal from them. I was fortunate to work at a popular French restaurant in Okinawa, where I married Yumi and gained valuable experience as a chef.
I chose Tokoname, Yumi’s hometown, as the place to open my own restaurant. When Yumi became pregnant, I postponed my dream, selling Tokoname’s traditional crafts abroad and working at other chefs’ restaurants. Later, with the birth of our second son and finding a good location near our home, I finally opened my own place. I named it Café Bellecour after the central square in Lyon, aiming to create a gathering spot for everyone.
Café Bellecour is a Lyon-style restaurant where you can casually enjoy French regional cuisine. Whether alone, with friends, or family, you can choose wine, food, coffee, or desserts to suit your needs, all in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Soon after opening, the global pandemic of COVID-19 began. Through many family discussions and trial and error, we managed to continue operating.
Now, as we emerge from that long tunnel, customers are returning. Café Bellecour continues with the same concept, adapting slightly to changing times. We are restarting as a Tokoname restaurant where people can gather, chat, and feel satisfied both in heart and stomach. Please stop by Café Bellecour!
